Many Citroen vehicles have a unique hydraulic suspension system consisting of five or more spheres. The spheres contain pressurised nitrogen gas and mineral hydraulic fluid, separated by an internal membrane. The nitrogen under pressure serves as a pneumatic spring, whilst the flow of mineral hydraulic fluid is controlled by valves to create a shock absorber function.
